Indian markets have had a difficult few weeks, with the Nifty 50 recording its sixth consecutive weekly decline, its longest losing streak since 2020. On Friday, the Nifty gained around 0.33% to close at 23,346, while the Sensex was almost flat.
One of the major concerns remains crude oil, which has stayed above $100 per barrel amid ongoing geopolitical tensions. Higher oil prices can put pressure on India’s import bill and inflation expectations.
At the same time, global bond yields and expectations around further monetary tightening are keeping investors cautious. Foreign investment flows have also been affected by the broader global environment.
Another interesting development is the NSE IPO, which was fully subscribed by the second day of bidding. The listing is scheduled for September 24 and will be closely watched by the market.
With these factors coming together, I’m curious to hear what other traders and investors think:
Do you see the current weakness as a temporary correction, or do you think the market could remain volatile for some time?
And for those actively trading Nifty or Bank Nifty, are you reducing position sizes in this environment or continuing with your usual strategy?
